16 years ago today, Red, the original Pokémon Trainer, took his first steps on a journey that would change the lives of millions across the world.
From faraway regions and ultimate battles of good and evil to drying pans and delicious jelly-filled donuts, the legacy of Pokémon began with a boy in a red hat who started his journey by wandering too far from home.
Pokémon has always been about more than the titular monsters. Pokémon and people form an unbreakable bond when they begin their journey together, and we owe it to Red for being the original - the first to take us on our journey and show us what the world of Pokémon meant. That’s what makes Pokémon Trainer Red a true legend.
